Scrappin Little Place

Fun time for right brain

A thought for Christmas November 28, 2007

Filed under: in the mood, scrapping time — tourmaline @ 9:46 am

Suddenly I’m thinking to make Christmas cards for some of my blogger friends. Don’t know why but definitely card making take up lesser time compare to scrapbooking.

Need to use up those extra little paper scrap from scrapbooking otherwise they will sit long enough in my stash and I still have no idea what to do with them. Maybe making cards will help me to get rid most of them as I find that there’s no space to store them for long.

My daughter is interested whenever she saw her mummy sitting at the table “playing” with scissors and papers. She sure will request to sit on my laps and look at my work. When she saw her photos, she will shout out loud: “Baby!” I can’t keep her long with me as she’s disturbing my work and that will cause me to spend even longer time to finish my LO.

Last weekend I was doing some paper craft to be included in her existing LO with theme garden. To be exact, to upgrade from 9×9 to 12×12 because I thought I will do 9×9 album first. Not really garden-like but it’s a LO with lots of flowers and a butterfly. I handcut one butterfly from the solid colour paper and cut one for my daughter too. I showed her and she was happy with the paper butterfly shape and she kept on saying “fly, fly!” Pushed her to show off her new fly fly to daddy and off she went. So, I got some more time to finish off the rest. Still don’t get the bling crystal sticker to beautify the butterfly yet. Need to do a quick shopping within these few days.

Who knows I may have some item back for Christmas cards too…

I learned new thing today – ATC November 26, 2007

Filed under: ATC — tourmaline @ 6:53 am

ATC stands for ARTIST TRADING CARD. This is very new in our local scrapbooking community. I was puzzled at first as I never heard about this ATC and after reading posts in forum I started to have an idea about this new type of art.

I found and read more about ATC here, and I just participated in our local ATC Swap! I think this is going to be fun!

beautifulSmile

A beautiful smile

Smiles light up the face
bringing life to sleepless eyes
and giving form to dimples.
Your smile radiates from your body
causing me to smile back
and making me feel your happiness.
Who can not return a smile
and feel better for the act
of raising the corners of the mouth?
A smile is so beautiful
a happy face that spreads sunshine
to all who see its greeting.

First Smile November 21, 2007

Filed under: layout, scrapping time — tourmaline @ 4:13 pm

This LO was completed 2 weeks ago, I’m just lazy to upload. Anyway, here is it ~ another 12×12 LO that I used inking, paper scraps, ribbons. I think I secured the ribbon with glue dots.

A quick LO – In the Pool November 14, 2007

In Pool

This LO is created because the photo was placed in the see-through cabinet for almost 2 months, without any cover or thicker card behind to support. So, I decided to turn it into 12×12 LO.

Used scissors to cut out all the swirls on cardstock and pattern paper and I just realized doing a 12×12 LO is much more easier than a 6×6 because all the while I was using craft knife to cut in order to fit into smaller sized album.  Now only I know…

This photo was taken in Sep and that’s the first time En En and I went to the pool together. She’s very excited and this first experience… yes, I already told myself I’m going to scrap about it soon.

We have many photos in the pool but this is the one that we both smiled and alot of people said we have the same smile! En En inherited my smile and my dimple… the rest of her feature is said to be more like daddy.

The round and circle cut-outs from pattern  paper using craft knife. I wrapped the circle with ribbons so it looks like a float to match the photo – In the Pool!

Using colour pencils? November 14, 2007

Yes, I did that and I am thinking maybe will try out using water colour pencils in my LO too. It gives an interesting views on the LO and it’s not as messy as using paint. I don’t have the luxury time (yes, time is very important for me now!) to play with paint but maybe one day if I happen to use chipboards and happen to have the extra time and paints on

hand… who knows?bday-details.jpg

By the way, this is also my first 12×12 LO and it’s so fun having more space to play around.

Decided to proceed with 12×12 layout November 11, 2007

Oh yeah… after much struggle and consideration… I can’t help but decided to put a few of beautiful photos in one LO for keepsake. And I was surprised that I’m able to finish 3 LO, yes all in 12×12 size in a day! Maybe because my girl is not around so I can concentrate to scrap from afternoon till night! That’s a record breaker for me.

Challenge – First Birthday Card November 8, 2007

ValBdCard

I did this card for a local birthday card challenge. A very simple one but I used almost 3 hours to complete!!! I used cut-outs from pattern paper and brochures. I use glue dots on sequins and trace around the sequins with gel pen. The tricky part must be tying the ribbons. Ok… maybe I’m not so familiar with ribbons yet.

Well, when I think back actually not that long because the first 1 & 1/2 hours I was busy in tracing and cutting pretty prints and fonts from wedding invitation cards and brochures. Oh yes… I support recycle very much and there are really pretty stuff from those commercial cards which can be used as embellishment for scrapbooking.

My temporarily scrap table November 4, 2007

This is  the dining table which transformed into my scrap place at one night.  Was scrapping a birthday card for local sb’s challenge. Imagine I got to mess the table then after I finished got to clean and keep everything into place. I’m just too hard-working, isn’t it? No choice because no scrap area at home. Been thinking where shall be my next scrapping place?
